The entrance to Jawbone Canyon is located off the 14 approximately 17 miles North-East of Mojave.
It is dry and dusty where we camp.
Jawbone Canyon Road runs all the way up into the Sequoia National Forrest (Elevation 6000'-7000'). It is about a 25-mile drive to get there (from the 14), but well worth it. Even though it is a dirt road, most of it is well-maintained. There are some very steep switchbacks heading up the mountains that a 2WD vehicle may have trouble climbing.
The drive from the desert to the mountains is beautiful. The transition between the climates is amazing.
